Political Communication in the 21st Century
This course deals with the growing interdependence between politics and communication. It provides theoretical and analytical tools to analyze the changes in political leadership and systems as a result of the growing influence of the media. The course explicates the implications of these changes for parliamentary and presidential politics as well as for mass politics and elections. It focuses on the meaning of the public sphere and deliberative democratic politics in the age of communication, and explores the changes in democratic politics in the global media age.
